VISIT MILAN IN ONE DAY

The city of Madonnina is the capital of fashion, nightlife, and finance, but it is also an important artistic center and a cultural crossroads. Milan offers its inhabitants and tourists a lot of attractions and cultural proposals if you only have one day to visit it, here are some suggestions of places you can not miss:

Brera Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera). Whether your journey starts at the central station of Milan or the Garibaldi station, in a few metro stops you will reach the district of Brera, one of the most elegant districts of Milan, where the Brera Gallery is located. This art gallery is one of the most important museums in Italy; it is perfectly organized and offers the opportunity to admire some of the best masterpieces in the history of art. After visiting the Art Gallery, with a short walk, you will reach the Duomo Square.

Duomo Square (Piazza del Duomo). A rectangular square, with an area of about 17,000 square meters, has been a true commercial center for more than seven centuries. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful squares of the city and is located in the heart of Milan, a must stop in your visit to a city that has the perfect combination of history, culture, and modernity.

Milan Cathedral. Proudly dominating the square is the imposing Duomo of Milan, with its Gothic facade, covered in white-pink marble, adorned by an infinity of capitals and pinnacles crowned with statues and, on the highest peak, the famous Madonnina. Enter the cathedral and visit its interior: admire its wonderful stained glass windows and its 5 naves.

Terraces of the Duomo of Milan. If you have time, with a private guide you can climb the terraces of the Duomo and admire the capitals up close, enjoying a panoramic view of the entire city, the historic center, the square and, without doubt, the contemporary skyline of Milan.

Take a break for lunch in one of the magnificent restaurants in the square and try a good Milanese risotto that is undoubtedly the flag of Milan. After a real Italian coffee, you will be ready to continue with your itinerary to the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery.

Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery. After visiting the Duomo of Milan, enter and walk through the "Salone di Milano", a cross-shaped gallery that connects the Duomo Square to Piazza Della Scala. If you wish to return to Milan, as a good omen, the tradition recommends positioning yourself on the attributes of the bull, designed in the floor mosaic of the central octagon of the Gallery, and turn on the heel, a superstitious gesture, but part of the Milanese tradition!

La Scala Theater. Walk through the Gallery until you reach Piazza Della Scala, where the famous La Scala Theater is located, one of the cultural symbols of Milan and one of the most prestigious theaters in the world thanks to its wonderful architecture and the numerous operas that are presented each season.
Start a pleasant walk to the church of Santa Maria Delle Grazie or, depending on the time you have left, take the metro that will leave you very close.

The Last Supper. Next to the Church of Santa Maria Delle Grazie is the old refectory of the convent, in which the great Leonardo da Vinci painted the Last Supper for the Duke of Milan Ludovico Sforza. Currently, the old refectory has become one of the most popular destinations for tourists from around the world. To protect the fresco from deterioration, access to visitors is limited to a group of maximum 25 people every 15 minutes.

At this point, the weight of the day could begin to feel, therefore, we suggest you go to the area of the Arco Della Pace ("Arch of Peace"), where you will find dozens of places where you can relax enjoying a "Milanese aperitif", with cold or hot dishes that you can accompany with a cocktail or a glass of good wine.

VISIT MILAN IN TWO DAYS

Start your second day in Milan with the Leonardo's Vineyard.

Leonardo's Vineyard. A guided audio tour that will tell you the history of the Leonardo's vineyard, an unusual and fascinating place in the city of Milan. In 1498, Ludovico el Moro, Duke of Milan, gave Leonardo a vineyard of which the great artist took great care during his life. Today the vineyard has been restored to its original splendor. After the visit, leaving this fascinating place, walk towards the Sempione Park and the Sforzesco Castle.

Sforza Castle (Sforzesco Castle) and Sempione Park. The Sforza Castle is one of the symbols of the city of Milan and part of its history. It is located in the historic center and, until the second half of the 14th century, played a purely defensive role; later, with the arrival of the Visconti family, Lords of Milan, the castle was transformed into a ducal residence. In the back of the Sforza castle is the Sempione Park, one of the green lungs of the city. After relaxing and walking through this park, you can walk through the center of the city and take a lunch break to then arrive at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.

Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. With a path that is divided into 24 rooms, you can admire some extraordinary masterpieces such as: The Musician by Leonardo, Fruit Basket by Caravaggio, The cartoon for the School of Athens by Raphael, the Adoration of the Magi by Titian, the Madonna del Padiglione by Sandro Botticelli and the splendid Vases of Flowers by Jan Brueghel. At the exit of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana take the subway to the Darsena stop.

Navigli. Departing from Darsena, end your wonderful visit of Milan walking by the Navigli. Here you will find the heart of the Milanese nightlife, so choose the place you prefer and enjoy a good aperitif.
