Thanks to this exclusive small group tour in the early hours of the day, you can climb St. Peter's Dome, visit the Basilica without waiting in line and visit the Papal Tombs, undoubtedly one of the most visited places in Vatican City, the smallest nation in the world.
The tour will start with the ascent to the Dome, the highest in the world. The first section will be by lift and will allow you to avoid 231 steps, reaching the first level where the lift doors will open onto the marvellous Dome designed by Michelangelo allowing you to admire the interior of the Basilica and its incredible mosaics from the top. You will then climb the remaining 320 steps to reach the top level of the dome. Once you get to the top, you will realise that the effort to get there is absolutely worth it! A spectacular view of the Vatican City and the entire city of Rome will open up before your eyes.

After an explanation from the top of the dome, your guide will lead you inside St. Peter's Basilica, following a route that will make you skip the line at the entrance. This Basilica is the largest in the world, the centre of Christianity and a place of pilgrimage for millions of people every year. Prepare to be enchanted by the masterpieces of Bernini and Bramante and admire Michelangelo's splendid Pietà.
The last stop on this incredible tour will be the Vatican Grottoes, also known as the Papal Tombs. Here you will find the burial place of 90 popes.

Due to the height and the narrow spaces to climb the Dome, the visit is not recommended for those who suffer from claustrophobia or vertigo.
The tour is not accessible for wheelchair users.

Meeting point

The meeting point with the guide is at Largo del Colonnato, in front of the Tiare Fountain, in Vatican City. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the tour.

Access to St. Peter's Basilica is not allowed with large backpacks, luggage, knives, glass bottles or scissors.
Only decently dressed persons are allowed into St. Peter's Basilica (tank tops, shorts, mini-skirts and hats are forbidden).
Animals are not allowed in the Basilica.
The visit is not wheelchair accessible.
Due to the heights and the narrow spaces to reach the Dome, the visit is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia.
