VISIT VERONA: OUR ADVICE

How long to stay in Verona?

Verona, with its rich history and culture, can be visited in a day. During this time, you can explore the Arena, immerse yourself in the romantic atmosphere of Juliet's House, and stroll along the picturesque Ponte Pietra. Dedicate a day to discovering the historic center, including Piazza delle Erbe and the Cathedral. If possible, stay a few extra days for trips to the surrounding areas, such as Lake Garda and Valpolicella, famous for its wines.

What to visit with children?

Verona is a charming city that also offers numerous attractions for families with children. Start your visit at the Arena di Verona, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. The little ones will be thrilled to explore this ancient monument and imagine the gladiators who fought on its stage. Continue to Castelvecchio, a medieval castle that houses a museum with a collection of art and armor. Children will love crossing the fortified bridge and discovering the hidden secrets within the castle walls. Another must-visit is Juliet’s House, where the kids can see the famous balcony and learn about the romantic story of Romeo and Juliet. A photo with Juliet’s statue in the courtyard will definitely please the young ones.

What are the typical dishes of Verona?

Verona, a city rich in history and culture, offers an equally fascinating culinary tradition. Among the typical dishes, "bigoli con le sarde" stands out, a thick pasta with a tasty sauce of aromatic herbs and pine nuts. Another iconic dish is ossobuco, often accompanied by Amarone risotto, a local red wine that adds depth and flavor. Pandorada is a spoon dessert made with stale bread, milk, sugar, eggs, and dried fruit. Pastissada de caval, a stew of horse meat marinated in wine, has roots in ancient local traditions. Finally, the tortellini from Valeggio sul Mincio, thin and delicate, are an excellence of Veronese cuisine.
